The ISO TC154 2024 Plenary, held from October 21 to 25 in Seongnam-city, Korea, brought together experts and representatives from various nations to advance standards in commerce, industry, and administration. Hosted by the National Radio Research Agency (RRA) and the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA), the event also aligned with the 42nd AFACT Plenary, emphasizing collaboration in trade facilitation and digital business transformation.
The plenary featured updates from multiple working groups (WGs) and joint working groups (JWGs), focusing on areas such as statistical data exchange, document standardization, blockchain applications, and supply chain interoperability. Highlights included progress on ISO standards like electronic Bill of Lading, Digital Product Passport, and trusted e-communication platforms. However, challenges such as limited expert participation and balancing project scopes were noted.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of global collaboration and standardization to support digital trade, sustainability, and interoperability across industries. The 2025 plenary and working group meetings are set to be hosted by ANSI/OAGi in the United States, continuing the momentum toward innovative and unified solutions for global commerce.
